Annual Report

Lydia's House Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2008-2009

During the period October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2009, Lydia's House provided transitional housing and critical support services to 133 individuals (50 women and 83 children).

Program Statistics

  • Provided 27,546 nights of safety to 133 individuals.
  • Held 3,493 individual advocacy sessions with the women. These sessions provided support in healing from the long-term effects of abuse and assistance in accessing the resources the women needed to achieve their educational, employment, health, housing, and legal goals.
  • Led 84 support groups with the women and 99 support groups with the children. Lydia's House has found that peer support groups provide opportunities for the women and children to share their experience, knowledge, and strength in facilitated sessions around topics of identifying appropriate behaviors, conflict resolution and anger management, healthy relationships, and warning signs of abuse.
  • Provided 100 community meals and social activities for the residents.

Accomplishment of Objectives

Based upon information we maintain on the progress of the women and review of exit interviews, we are currently successfully achieving the following outcomes:

  • 100% of the residents leaving the program express an increased sense of safety, well-being and self-esteem.
  • 85% of the departing residents have completed their educational/ training/employment goals while living at Lydia's House and 60% have completed their secondary goals (legal, medical, parenting, self-care, etc.).
  • 80% of the women complete economic self-sufficiency classes and 50% open Individual Development Accounts.
  • 95% of the departing residents have safe, abuse-free, affordable housing at the time of their departure.
